Tesco offers students a 10% discount with an ISIC card

The retail chain Tesco and ISIC card issuer GTS Alive are launching a new 10% discount for students starting October 2, 2023. The discount applies to the entire Tesco range, including non-food items, with a few minor exceptions like tobacco products. Students will save 10% even on already discounted goods. This will be the first student discount of its kind among grocery chains in the Czech Republic. Students with an ISIC card can shop with this benefit once a week from Monday to Friday.

“We have long considered offering student discounts on the ISIC card through retail chains. In the spring, we launched a pilot program in several Tesco stores. It proved successful, students showed interest, so now the discount will be available in all Tesco stores across the country. I am convinced this will be one of our most popular student benefits,” said Radek Schich, director of GTS Alive.

“We decided to significantly support students in the Czech Republic through the Clubcard loyalty program in cooperation with ISIC. The 10% discount on all purchases in all Tesco stores will be easily accessible via the Clubcard app in the form of a discount coupon. Nearly one million customers actively use the Clubcard app already. We believe this form of digital interaction and exclusive discount will be very attractive for students,” said Zuzana Grinčová, Marketing Director of Tesco Czech Republic.

Clubcard is the most well-known loyalty program in the Czech Republic. It offers members many benefits from discounted prices to special promotions.

The ISIC student card is primarily used as a student identification card alongside discounts. It is also accepted in public transport, school cafeterias, and libraries, and can help secure school access. Recently, besides Tesco, significant discounts have also been added at online fashion store Zoot, pharmacy e-shop Dr. Max, and electronics retailer CZC.cz.
