Theatre on the Balustrade always been among the leading contemporary Czech theater scene. Since the season 2013/2014 is its director Petr Štědroň, artistic head of Dora Viceníková and main director Jan Mikulášek. Creation of new artistic leadership strengthens its position within the DNZ Czech theater network, which is also confirmed by the gain Drama Critics Awards 2014 in all eight categories (including valuation Theatre of the Year). The first premiere in DNZ (If a Thousand Clarinets) was held on December 9, 1958. Dramatic performances in 1959 added the famous mime from artist Ladislav Fialka. In the 60s, the theater developed form of the Czech absurd theater. Director Jan Grossman and playwright and later president Vaclav Havel worked here.
